Castor oil is one of nature’s treasures. From small sores to hair or nail care, it is the solution to quite a few of our daily problems. Refined castor oil is a 100% natural ingredient, recognised by Ayurveda for its health and beauty benefits. Fortifying and restorative, it can be used daily in various cosmetic preparations.
Castor Oil – what is it and how does it help?
Natural Castor oil comes from the small seeds of the plant of the same name – Castor oil. This little shrub of tropical origin grows mainly in Africa, but also in the temperate regions of China, India and Brazil.
The refined castor oil is extracted by pressing (preferably cold) from the castor seed. And this has been used for at least 4000 years BC. In Ancient Egypt, it was used not only to power the lamps and but also in natural cosmetics. Folklore suggests that it was a part of Cleopatra’s beauty regime too.
The secret of Castor oil is Omega 9. This nutrient softens the roughest skin and strengthens the hydrolipidic film of the skin. This means that it helps protect your skin to keep it soft and smooth.
Applied as a poultice and used as massage oil, it can even help reduce stretch marks, small scars and wrinkles.
Castor oil – the Ayurveda secret for beauty
Skin like new
Castor oil repairs and soothes the skin. Stimulating the production of collagen, castor oil has anti-wrinkle, and concealer properties. It helps the skin appear less tired. This oil with a thick and viscous texture is therefore ideal for moisturizing dry skin in-depth and for softening and repairing damaged skin. Its action on the elasticity of the skin makes it a good weapon against stretch marks.
Natural Castor oil contains proteins that stimulate the production of collagen by skin cells, which (also) makes it a good anti-wrinkle. Be careful to apply only a few drops on wrinkles, to avoid clogging the pores.
Thanks to its fatty acid composition, castor oil also has lightening properties – it is used to treat dark spots on the face and on the hands.
Ayurvedic Make-up remover
Refined castor oil also has purifying properties thanks to the ricinoleic acid it contains, reputed to stop the proliferation of microbes. It can, therefore, be used as a makeup remover too.
Soak a cotton ball in castor oil and remove all the impurities of the day. However, be careful not to put too much on it because it is very oily and can quickly leave a residue on the skin that is not very pleasant.
For the eyelashes, the easiest way is to use a cotton swab or a very clean brush (like mascara brush)! Dip your “tool” in Castor oil and apply to the base of the lashes and on the lashes. Please note, since natural Castor Oil is particularly viscous, and hence just 1-2 drops will suffice.
Thicker eyebrows and eyelashes
To restore the density of sparse eyebrows or stimulate the regrowth of eyelashes and eyebrows lost due to cancer treatments, Castor Oil is perfectly indicated!
For denser eyebrows, apply a small amount of castor oil daily. Applying it before bedtime allows it to stay longer and activate its properties. Regular usage can help in improving hair growths for your eyebrows.
Does your hair tend to fall out? Are they dry, damaged, brittle? It is highly recommended that you use pure Castor oil for hair. It is also known to accelerate growth, strengthen it, will sheath and repair damaged hair.
Castor Oil is very rich in fatty acids and minerals. Two elements which play a primordial role in the growth of your hair. Applied regularly on your hair and scalp, Castor Oil will keep your hair healthy, give it strength, shine and length! And will nourish your scalp.
– 2 tablespoons of castor oil
– 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel
Prepare an Ayurveda hair mask at least once a week by letting the castor oil sit for several hours, or even overnight on your hair. Then, rinse thoroughly because again, this oil is extremely sticky.
Castor oil is very popular for strengthening nails if they break easily or you can’t grow them. Do not hesitate to apply it every day on your nails by massaging it on the nails and cuticles, then leave on for a few minutes. Applying it around the cuticles helps to hydrate and nourish them at best.
Castor Oil has antibacterial properties that will rid your cuticles of their small impurities. And with its famous omega 9, Castor Oil will be able to deeply repair your nails. Castor Oil will be able to help restore all their shine to soft, streaked, blackened or even split nails!
How to use it?
Apply it 2 times a day on each nail and its cuticles, then massage gently to penetrate the treatment. Without forgetting the feet of course!
For your beauty rituals, make sure the natural castor oil is cold-pressed and preferably organic. You can also mix it with aloe vera gel, or any base oil like olive oil, coconut or almond oil to prevent extreme stickiness. Like every other natural remedy, it is necessary that you apply it consistently to experience remarkable results.
