Social Issues – Surf the internet. Donate to charities. Don’t pay for a thing. Sounds too good to be true, right?
Think again.
Tab for a Cause is a digital, user-friendly non-profit started by four college seniors who “believe in making charitable giving a habit.” Their site, ingenious in its simplicity, helps channel funds to seven specific social causes just by letting users do what they normally do on the internet.
With just one click, users can help raise funds for organizations including Water.org, Room to Read, Human Rights Watch, Conservation International, the International Peace Institute, Save the Children, or Educate!.
All you need to do is download the browser extension for Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, choose your one of the seven groups listed above and the frequency of your donation. Everything else works automatically, with no additional costs.
Basically, each time (or every few times, depending on your preference) that you open a new tab in your browser, Tab for a Cause collects funds from the advertisements displayed on the page. Then, they donate 100% of the ad money to your favorite organization at the end of each fiscal quarter.
Saving the world has never been easier.
