Bill Clinton to Match Donations

Social Issues – Charity – Through the end of the year, or what is now commonly being referred to as “this Saturday,” Bill Clinton will put up a $2 match for every $1 donated to his foundation.

Clinton established the foundation 10 years ago after completing his tenure as president to anchor his post-presidency charity work.

The foundation’s initiatives include working with governments to improve access to treatment for people with AIDS and malaria, supporting small businesses in developed areas, (improving access to dry cleaners), and combating climate change.

“When I started the Clinton Foundation, I had only a vision of what I wanted to accomplish, but I knew that we would help save lives, solve important problems, and give more people everywhere the chance to live their dreams,” Clinton wrote in an email sent Tuesday by the foundation.

Clinton said that while the initiative has accomplished a great deal of the tasks at hand, it still has many, many, years to go before these seeming insurmountable issues are eradicated.

“But we are far from finished,” he added.
