Human Rights Campaign wants Herman Cain to know that his inflammatory statements made to ABC’s “The View” are wrong and they can prove it.
Presidential candidate, Herman Cain, stated that he believed being gay was a choice and “You show me the science that says that it’s not. Could be persuaded. Right now it’s my opinion against the opinion of others who feel differently. That’s just a difference of opinion.”
HRC replied to Cain’s remarks by saying:
“Implying that being gay or lesbian is a choice gives undue credence to dangerous practices like reparative therapy.
Leading medical organizations including the American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association, the American Counseling Association and the American Psychiatric Association all agree attempts to change one’s sexuality by force or through medical treatment are dangerous and can have serious consequences.”
