GRAMMY POWER
Celebrity Charities – Pop star Katy Perry debuted her new song at the Grammys last weekend and that single, “Part of Me,” has already topped the charts.
In thanking her legions of fans on Twitter, she also made a generous proclamation in 140 characters or less:
“My proceeds of #PARTOFME from ITUNES & others will go to one of my favorite charities for the arts, MUSICARES.”
MusiCares, the official charity of the Grammys, has three main objectives. According to the organization’s website, “MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need…cover[s] a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies…and focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.”
Additionally, Perry and other Grammy artists like Rihanna, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson, autographed a Daisy Rock guitar will be auctioned off on eBay to benefit MusiCares. Right now, the six-stringer stands at $1,525 and bidding ends on Feb. 27.
