Celebrity Charities – Professional wrestler and not-especially-tall-but-really-really-built-dude, John Cena, has a new accomplishment to wear: he has granted the most wishes in the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s history. It makes a very good case for the good a celebrity can do by donating his or her time.
Cena has granted a hefty total of 250 wishes so far. In appreciation, the foundation, which seeks to make dreams come true for sick and terminally-ill children, has named a conference room in its Phoenix office after the WWE. Cena’s appearance reflects one facet of the sports-entertainment (read: not real) organization’s social responsibility program.
I posted recently about the young boy who was given the opportunity to blow up a building by this great foundation. As the very thought of severely sick children can be enough to immobilize some people, Cena and the Make-A-Wish foundation deserve great admiration and respect for the valuable contribution they provide to our society.
