Celebrity Charities – We’ve frequently reported on the fight for democracy in Egypt, from the military police vs. the people, to the blatant violations of women’s rights, and more. While many of these issues receive support from the celebrity community, there are few celebrity activists as committed and engaged as Bianca Jagger. Having long been a proponent of humanitarian and civil rights issues, Jagger has taken her vocal advocacy to Egypt and the Arab Spring with no exception.

In her most recent blog for the Huffington Post, Jagger discusses why United States politicians and citizens should support the Egyptian protesters as they return to Tahrir Square. She denounces the American government’s comments regarding lifting the Emergency Law as weak, and she contextualizes many other recent events in terms of their vitality to international civil and human rights.

Jagger is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post and has worked with a wide range of non-profit organizations during the past 30 years. Her own organization, the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation, is dedicated to research, education and advocacy in the areas of the death penalty, climate change, and what she calls “crimes against present and future generations.”
