Human Rights – A video of a female protester in Egypt being beaten by police, with her shirt ripped open to reveal a blue bra, is lighting the blogosphere on fire as the Egyptian military police continued to clash with protestors in Tahrir Square on Sunday.

In the video, the army soldiers in full riot gear are beating a seemingly unconscious, and thus not really so much a threat, female with big sticks, kicking her and stomping on her chest.

The footage that precedes the now infamous shot show the “blue bra girl” repeatedly struck in the head and body with batons, while being dragged by soldiers, because again, seriously, one girl is such a threat to four police officers.

Several men had been carrying the girl in a vain attempt to outrun the military police were also beaten. All of those in question, along with 150 other protestors, were detained and charged with “the use of force and violence against army officers, by preventing them from performing their duties, through assaulting them with rocks, Molotov cocktails, and firearms.”

Reports also swirled that the military police are openly beating women protestors in the street and slapping elderly people in the face.

Aya Emad, a 24-year-old protestor, had a broken nose, her arm in a sling, and her other arm bruised. She told the Associated Press “that troops dragged her by her headscarf and hair into the cabinet headquarters. She said that soldiers kicked her on the ground, an officer shocked her with an electrical prod and another slapped hr in the face.”

To date, the protests have left 10 dead and hundreds wounded.
